We are at Disney Florida.

It's day 2, and since I have been here so many times, I'm really not interested in getting it all done.

I just want to go at a more leisurely pace this time.

Just happy to have the family together for another family trip.

I got some AirPods a couple of months ago and after a couple of months I have completed my evaluation.  I love these things.

  1.  charge super fast.
  2. charge lasts a pretty long time
  3. super convenient.  No wires, and not having to carry phone is amazing.
  4. stay in and feel just like the old EarPods.¬† Which some like, others don’t.¬† I do like them.
  5. the charging case holds a good charge.
  6. sound is the same as EarPods.

  1.  $150
  2. software / connecting inconsistent.¬†¬† Feels a little ‘buggy.’
  3. I liked the volume control on the old wires.¬† Yes, you can tap the AirPod and Siri will let you tell her to turn it down but that’s a pain.¬† Or you can turn it down on the phone itself of course.

I’ve become a horrible troll when playing this game.

It’s fun though and today I made it to arena 9!

My wife took this picture of me playing Destiny with my buddy and I really like the image.

First, the game is fun.  But like so many games, it is hard to get it to the table.

So, second, I brought the table!  We had a game before having a round of disc golf.  It was really fun.

Third, I love outside.  It was windy, but was worth enduring to have a nice game before getting some exercise.

I have high hopes for 2017.  Some things I wish to do:

  1. ¬†Connect with local game shop Montag’s in Pearland, TX.¬† I have been going for a while here and there, but I want to spend more time and money there and meet like-minded individuals.
  2. Control Kickstarter spending.  Only 6 for 2017 will be the goal.
  3. Buy less boardgames – I buy them and then shelve them….
  4. Play more of the games I want to play.  DCC for rpgs and Imperial Assault, xwing/Armada.
  5. continue to play DCC on Fridays with family; possibly branch out to another game OR start a second DCC campaign.
  6. pay less attention to Facebook.
  7. find an online game and return to Payday 2 type of play – that game was amazing and so damn fun and everyone played it.¬† Need a game everyone wants to play.¬† I’m not sure this is possible.
  8. Read a dozen more books.  One per month.
  9. Don’t play games I don’t want to play.
  10. Find my place in Scouts with a lesser role but enjoy my time with my son (who is now a Life scout.)  Being treasurer for 9 years now is starting to wear on me.
  11. Enjoy a family vacation in New York or Disneyland.¬†¬† I’m actually leaning New York.¬† I want my family to visit this iconic place.
  12. Play 40 rounds of disc golf
  13. perfect my job performance.  worry and stress less.
  14. find creative endeavor……¬† (I don’t know what this means.¬† I try things and they go away.¬† but I must have an outlet and this blog isn’t it)
  15. continue to recognize further the negative aspects of social media while embracing the positive aspects.
  16. Get down to 195 lbs.  (currently at 202)

2016 was possibly my best year ever.  It was close to near perfect, and it seems unlikely that life could get better.

Here is a rundown of my year:

  1.  Went to see Alamo with family
  2. Went to BTSR Boy Scout Camp with family
  3. Figured out new job and am finally good at it
  4. went to Washington DC with family
  5. played Dungeon Crawl Classics with family every Friday for last 6 months of year
  6. both kids are at high school now which makes mornings so easy
  7. gave up irrational premise that I have to ‘like’ or ‘heart’ social media entries or watch / click links suggested to me
  8. realized that my time is as valuable as anyone’s and rejected invitations that had a high probability of failure or did not fit in with my schedule
  9. played about 40 rounds of disc golf
  10. read a dozen novels

Notice that family comes up quite a bit here.  It has been an amazing year for family.  As my kids grow older, I recognize the special gift of every activity with them.  They will not be here much longer.

#7 and #8 are important.¬† I must be careful; by reducing flexibility I am doing less things and confusing some people.¬† However I have more than I can do and my time is of the utmost importance; nobody’s time is more important than my own despite what some people think.¬† I’m really weary of late people and people who cancel.¬† Everyone has stuff that comes up; but when it’s predictable and common, there is a problem.¬† Consistent respect for my time will yield more commitment from me.¬† I have a bit of bitterness here that I hope to turn constructive in 2017.¬†¬† I hope to be able to explain better and to keep control of my own destiny instead of permitting others to muck things up.¬†¬† We did this at the Ren Faire this year; we did it our way and it was wonderful.¬† We announced what we were doing and then we did it on our schedule.¬†¬† I expect to do this more however that means I have to coordinate more.
